Describe the four types of competition and give an example of each.

The four different types of competition are intraspecific, interspecific, competitive exclusion, and resource petitioning. Intraspecific is defined as the struggle between members of a population for scarce resources. An example of intraspecific competition would be two lions fighting for a elephant. Interspecific competition refers to the competition between two or more species for some limiting resource. This limiting resource can be food or nutrients, space, mates, shelter, or any resource that is in demand by the animal. An example would be like a dog and a cat fighting. Competition exclusion is competition in which one species is out-competing another. Example would be native plants excluding non-native plants. The last type of competition is resource petitioning is species changing over time in order to reduce competition. Example would be animals eating different foods instead of fighting over it.

Give three examples of how individual characteristics influence populatiExeon sizes

Individuals characteristics can help them survive longer than a species that doesn't have those characteristics. This is known as "survival of the fittest" where which ever species or animal has better suited characteristics will survive longer. The first example would be the beak of a finch. If a finch's beak is longer or stronger than they are most likely better suited for it's environment because they are capable to do things with their beaks that other finches couldn't do. The second example would be a finches neck. If one finch has a longer neck it could do things a finch with a shorter neck couldn't, such as reaching food that is harder to reach. The third example would be a finch's feet. Some finch's could have claws or more durable feet so they could grab easier or other things like that easier so it is better suited for it's habitat.

In your opinion based upon Earth after people what is the biggest impact humans have had on the planet?

In my personal opinion I believe that humans affected Earth mostly by industrialization and technology. Without humans all the buildings, factories, stores, roads, and things of that sort would no longer be here and I feel like that is was we have impacted the Earth with the most. Many of the cities that the human race have built on Earth have taken away from animals habitat. Without us doing this I think planet Earth would be totally different. Also, since we industrialized we have caused many negative effects such as pollution because all the factories we have built are a big reason of why we have the problem with global warming. Our technology also has contributed to global warming because inventions such as automobiles and trains have caused more than enough pollution. I think that industrialization and technology are the biggest impact because I think the effects of it might be the reason planet Earth dies.

Describe 3 factors that lower biotic potential

Biotic Potential is the maximum capacity of an individual or population to reproduce under optimal environmental conditions. Its hard for populations to reach its biotic potential because there are many factors that can lower it.
3 Factors are disease, predation, and restricted food.
Disease restricts its because it causes many to die from various diseases, so that lowers the biotic potential.
Predation because other animals feed on other animals in order to survive by killing them and eating them so that lowers the biotic predation.
Restricted food causes lowering in biotic potential because species can die from starvation cause they need the nutrients of food to survive and if they don't get them they die, so that lowers to biotic potential.
